Chapter 60: ~59~Cafe Date

"You don't have to come out you know," I said to Jacob just as we pulled up to the cafe. "Why wouldnt I?" he asked killing the engine. I glared at him. He knew exactly what he was going to do.

"Can't you just stay in the car? I am going to be right there," I said gesturing to the cafe directly ahead of us. "Hmmm....no," he said unbuckling his seatbelt. I realize now that I should have asked Jason or even Dylan.

I gave him the pouty face to which he looked away. "But please? You are just going to make it awkward and unbearable and you are going to interrogate him," I said. "No I am not," he said defensively.

I raised an eyebrow at him to which he sighed. "Ok, but can you really blame me?" he asked. "Yes."

"Not really. I still don't like him," he said looking at me. I internally rolled my eyes. "Well, maybe if you don't act like a jerk to him, then you might start to like him," I said slowly. He didn't say anything and just stepped out of the car.

I followed him with a frown. I get that he didn't like Liam, but he didn't have to be so rude about it. Jacob sighed when he saw me. "Okay, fine. I won't bother you guys. I'll sit a little ways away. It wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear, but it was much better than him sitting with us.

"Yes, thank you," I said as I sped walked into the cafe. I was so excited to finally see him. I may sound like I am over exaggerating a bit, but I just missed him so much. I couldn't explain the feeling I felt with him. All I knew was that every time I was with him. I forgot about all of my worries and everything became worry free.

A huge smile made its way on Liam's face and his eyes lit up when he saw me. Although it did falter a little when he saw Jacob come in after me. He whispered to the barista next to him and walked around the counter. I immediately hugged him once he made it around the counter.

I didn't care that there were other people that might be watching us. "Okay, no skin contact," Jacob said pulling me away from Liam. I saw him not so subtly glare at Liam. And he wondered why I wanted to keep it a secret from them.

"Okay, Jacob, remember what you said?" I asked him. I gave him an expectant look. He rolled his eyes. "Stop, you're being overprotective," I whispered up to him, even though Liam could probably still hear me. "Yes, I know," he said still not taking his eyes off of Liam.

I gently pushed him away so that he would take a hint and go away. "Don't do anything stupid," Jacob said to Liam.

I sighed of relief when he finally walked away. "I'm so sorry about him. I really didn't want any of my brothers to come but-"

"-It's okay Lisa," he said cutting me off. "I'm really sorry," I said looking up at him. He gave me a reassuring smile. "Seriously, don't be. He has every right to be protective," he said.

"Yeah but he is a little too protective," I mumbled. "Come on," he said guiding me to a table. "I'll be right back," he said right before he left to the back of the cafe.

I looked over at Jacob who sat on the other side of the cafe to see him looking at me. 'Go away' I mouthed to him.

He shook his head with a smirk on his face. I rolled my eyes and looked away just in time to see Liam come out of the back with my favorite treat ever. "Liam," I said as I stared at the best dessert ever made.

He set it on the table and sat across from me. "It's okay you can eat it," he said laughing when he saw me staring at it.

"Liam, you are spoiling me with all of this. I'm gonna get a cavity," I said. Despite saying that I started digging in nonetheless.

He looked at me and chuckled. "What can I say? I just love spoiling you," he said. I could feel my face heating up. "Oh stop it," I mumbled smiling.

"But you're so cute when you blush," he said. I picked up a piece of icing and threw it at him. It landed directly in the middle of his forehead. My aiming skills are on point today.

"Stop it," I said with a small smirk on my face. He gasped and looked at me with a shocked expression. "You did not," he said.

"I told you to stop."

He wiped the icing off of his forehead with a napkin. "Okay, that's how you want to play?" He asked evilly. "What does that mean?" I asked. Before I knew it he dipped his finger in my icing and wiped it on my nose.

"There, now we are even," he said smirking. I attempted to lick it off with my tongue but my tongue wasn't long.

"If I had my phone on me right now I would be recording you," Liam said laughing. "You look hilarious."

"Hmm well it's all your fault," I said resorting to wiping it off with my finger. I, unlike Liam, didn't get rid of it. I ate it afterward.

"Well, I'm sorry. Do you forgive me?" He asked giving me puppy dog eyes. Great. Now I know how my brothers feel when I do it to them.

"Yeah, I'll forgive you. I mean how can I not?" I asked gesturing to the cupcake that was nearly done. He chuckled and leaned his head on his hands.

"So?" He asked looking at me expectantly. I raised an eyebrow at him. "What?" I asked taking the last bite of my cupcake. I really wish it never ended. It was too good to be finished.

"How did it feel to finally get your cast off?" He asked gesturing to my arm. "You noticed?" I asked a little shocked. It's been a while since I have last seen him, I thought he would forget.

"Of course I noticed. You went from a huge blue cast to a small arm wrap. I'd be blind to miss it," he said. I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear and smiled.

"Well, it feels like I was just granted freedom after being locked away in a dungeon for so long," I said.

"That good huh?" He asked chuckling. "Yes, you have no idea," I said. "Well, I am glad you got it off. You were starting to annoy me with your complaining."

My face literally dropped when he said that. "What?" He held a straight face and I couldn't tell if he was actually being serious.

I could see the corner of his mouth start to turn upwards right before he burst out laughing. "I'm just kidding, blue," he said still laughing. "You could never annoy me. Well maybe a little-but not really," he said. He reached across the table and held my hands.

"That's not funny," I said. Yet I still didn't pull my hand from his. He stared at me with a giddy smile on his face allowing me to see his left dimple. His eyes stared into mine and I couldn't help but get lost in them.

"How did I get so lucky?" he whispered to himself. I felt like this was one of those special moments that I always read about. It almost felt too real to be true. And my brother was only a few booths away probably watching us right now just ready to ruin the moment.

I reluctantly pulled my hands out of his, leaving the warmth with him. His eyes flickered with disappointment but it quickly went away.

"So aren't you supposed to be working now?" I asked him. I sort of wanted to change the topic anyway. "I'm pretty sure you can't just ditch work and not get in trouble for it," I said.

"Nah it's okay. I've already spoken to my boss about it. Besides he understands. We are like family so I guess you could say I get a lot of leeway," he said smiling.

I nodded. That would make a bit more sense. "Well, I am glad your boss is very understanding. I wouldn't want you to get in trouble for it or anything," I said.

"Pft," he said leaning back in his seat. "As if that would stop me," he said. I playfully rolled my eyes and laughed. At this point, I should have expected him to say that.

I briefly glanced over at Jacob to see him on his phone. He looked so lonely it was actually sort of funny. That's when an idea popped into my head.

"Come on, let's go," I said grabbing onto Liam's hand. I quickly maneuvered around a few people and went out back to our usual spot.

I turned around and looked up at him. "Won't I like get in serious trouble for this?" Liam asked once we stopped.

"Oh, you get worried about that, but not losing your job?" I asked raising an eyebrow. "Well, this is different. I would actually be receiving physical pain," he said scratching the back of his head.

I squinted my eyes at him. "What exactly did they tell you?" I asked sitting on the grass. I brought him down to sit next to me.

I heard him audibly gulp and that made me a little nervous. "Just some stuff, that's all."

Flashback

OC POV

"Look, I already don't like you, cause you like my little sister," Jacob said to Liam. He held such a stance and his tall frame against Liam's slightly shorter one could be quite intimidating to anyone.

"Why do you think you could be with her? You most likely- no scotch that. You don't deserve her. You should probably just leave right now," Dylan said he was standing on the other side of Liam basically boxing him in.

Jason was on his right and Jacob in front of him. Justin was the only one who wasn't focused on Liam and simply sat on the couch watching everything. He knew he didn't really have to do anything. His older brothers had everything covered.

"I-"

"-No. You don't get to speak right now. But what you're gonna do is listen." Jacob cut him off.

"Don't you guys think you are being a little unreasonable?" Liam asked. It took him a while for him to say that in fear that he would get hurt. He had no doubt that Dylan or Jacob would be the first to hit him.

But he knew for he and Lisas sake he had to speak up, at least once. Even if it might mean he would get hurt a little in the process.

"Ooh, I almost hit you," Jacob mumbled as he backed up. Jason interveined guiding Liam a little bit away from Dylan and Jacob.

As much as he agreed with what his siblings were saying he had to be the adult here. "Okay, kid," Jason said sighing. "Obviously if you didn't have..an interest in Lisa you wouldnt be here right now. So I'll give you that."

Liam felt some hope and a little of relief flood into him. He couldn't wait to spend time with Lisa and not worry about him or her getting in trouble for it.

He didn't like when she was constantly worrying about her brothers finding out about them. He wanted her to be with him, but without the worry of getting caught.

"I really don't want you to get hurt," Jason started briefly looking over to where Jacob and Dylan were standing. "And you seem like a nice kid. Lisa means everything to us, but I don't think I really have to tell you that."

"If you really think that you deserve her and you will try your very best to make her happy and-"

"-You better not break her heart or do something stupid cause I will be the first and last person you see-"

"-Okay, Dylan," Jason said. "I think he gets the point. Right?" Jason asked looking at Liam. Liam didn't think another second before he answered.

He would never dare to hurt Lisa in any way. She meant too much to him. "Good," Jason said patting him on his shoulder a couple of times.

Liam felt like there was a huge weight lifted off his shoulder. He walked into the house the most nervous he had ever been in his life and it felt great to finally relieve the feeling.

An hour had passed since then and they had only been asking him a number of questions that if he didn't answer correctly, he could kiss having any time with Lisa goodbye.

When it was finally time to go, Jacob decided to walk him out. Liam knew that despite his other brothers getting a little more comfortable with the idea of their little sister dating him, Jacob was the only one that still seemed to despise him.

They reached the front porch and Liam was just waiting for Jacob to say something close to insulting or even a threat.

But when he looked at him he could tell that wasn't what was going to come next. "Please don't hurt her. Whatever you do, don't hurt her. She doesn't deserve it."

Liam was a little taken aback. But still did not hesitate in responding. "I won't. I promise."

End of flashback.

"Yeah anyway so now that we can see each other again. I have a surprise for you," Liam said looking at me.

"Ooh, really what is it?" I asked getting excited. I loved surprises but I didn't at the same time. I love being surprised but I don't like waiting for surprises.

"I can't tell you yet. You have to wait until we hang out again," he said.

"But you can't do that to me!" I exclaimed. "Why tell you have a surprise if you aren't going to tell me?" I asked irritatedly. He laughed and shrugged his shoulder. "I don't know, I thought that's what people do."

"Impossible," I said glaring at him.

"Oh come on. It will be sooner than you think," he said raising his eyebrows. I playfully rolled his eyes. "Fine, but it better be soon." Just as I said that Jacob walked outside of the cafe.

From where I sat I could see him roll his eyes. He is definitely going to need some time to get used to me hanging with Liam.

"I told you not to move and you move," was the first thing he said when he got to us. I gave him a cheeky smile. "Well, at least I didn't move far?" I said more like a question.

"Yeah, yeah let's go come one," he said gesturing for us to go to the car. "What do you mean? We just got here," I said. I looked to Liam who only shrugged. Wow okay.

"What are you talking about? It's been an hour," Jacob said as if I was dumb. Liam's eyes widened as he scrambled off the floor.

"Shoot! I need to get back to work. I did not think that much time went by," he said. "Ah, so you do care about your job," I said.

He shrugged and smiled. "Well I have to, to some degree," he said. I laughed and shook my head. "Whatever. Hurry up and get back before you get fired," I said shooing him off.

He briefly nodded at Jacob before leaving towards the cafe entrance. "You really like him hmm?" Jacob asked once we got to the car.

I briefly glanced up at him and looked back out the window. "Yeah, I do. A lot actually," I said. I could feel my cheeks heating up. And I still had the same smile on my face from earlier.

Is this what it feels like....to be in love? Nah I can't be in love. I've haven't known him for that long. I don't know anything about love.

"Yeah, I could tell," I heard him mumble. He simply kept his gaze straight ahead the entire time. We got home in no time and there were no other cars which meant Jason and Dylan were gone and most likely Justin was with one of them.

I got out and followed Jacob. I literally couldn't stop thinking about Liam. Now all I needed to do was get my phone back and everything would be perfect.

When we walked inside Jacob and I both froze. Our mother was standing directly in front of us.
