Important A/N at the end. Enjoy.
It's Monday morning and I am freaking out. Liam insisted to drop me off last night because he didn't want me to walk home alone at night. I didn't complain because I didn't want to either. I did make sure he dropped me off at least a block from my house so that I can sneak in the back without my brothers knowing.
Liam insisted to drop Anna off since she would have to walk home otherwise. Now here I am at 7:30 in the morning sitting at the breakfast table. Jason woke up extra early to make us a big breakfast for our first day of school.
Jacob also woke up early, only to bid us goodbye."Do I have to go? Can't I just do online school?" I asked for probably the 15th time. Jason rolled his eyes at my attempt to ditch school.
"No, Lisa, you need the association. I don't want you to grow up to be antisocial."
"Doing online school doesn't make me antisocial," I protested.
"Can you just finish your breakfast before its time to go?" he asked leaning on the counter. "Fine," I grumbled taking a bite out of my pancake. I knew this conversation would be going nowhere.
Soon enough it was time to go and Dylan would be driving us. I grabbed my backpack and was about to leave when Jason called me back. "Do I not get a goodbye hug?" he asked opening his hand.
I wrapped my arms around his torso because that was about how high I could reach."Have a good day okay sweetie? I am sure you will do great," he said kissing my forehead. "Yeah, if I make it out alive," I said. I might just die of embarrassment. "You know what to do if anyone bothers you right?" he asked looking at me.
"Yes, yes, yes I know to come and tell one of you guys," I said rolling my eyes. This is has become like a ritual now. "Good," he replied.
"Justin let's go!" Dylan shouted up the stairs while fixing his hair in the mirror. He has been fixing his hair for a good 10 minutes now. He said it has to be absolutely perfect. "I can't find my phone!" Justin ran down the stairs looking everywhere.
"Well now is not the time. It is time to go," Dylan replied grabbing his backpack. "But I can't leave without my phone," Justin said running his hand through his hair. "You will be fine. Let's go before we are late." Dylan said guiding Justin to the car. "Hold on, you're forgetting something else," Jason said holding his hands open.
Dylan and Justin both groaned while I laughed. They hated all that lovey-dovey stuff. "Jason, please don't make us do this," Dylan groaned. Jason walked up to them and smashed them both in a hug, just as Justin was about to run away.
"Have a great first day of school lil bros," he said. Justin broke free and fixed his hair. "Okay, okay, you're gonna ruin my outfit," he said. "Wow, I am really feeling that brotherly love," Jason said to which Justin rolled his eyes.
I hugged Jason and went in the backseat of Dylan's car. Once we were all in, Jacob came to the car. "No speeding, and please try not to get a detention on the first day," he said mostly aiming his remark at Dylan.
"What are you talking about? I am a picture perfect student," he said with a fake shocked look. I snorted at that earning a glare from him. "The fact that you assumed I was talking to you simply proves otherwise," Jacob said.
"What? You were clearly talking to me."
"Okay bye, have a good first day. Love you guys," Jacob said walking inside. "Picture perfect student my foot," Justin said once we were on the road. "I feel like you are the type of student that just annoys everyone," Dylan remarked back.
I rolled my eyes. While they were bickering I was trying not to fly out of this car with how nervous I was. We arrived in about 10 minutes. Dylan seemed straight up excited and Justin just looked bored already.
"Alright boy and girl. We are here baby," Dylan said putting the car in park. I stared up at the huge building in front of me. The building was at least two stories. The walls were white lined with blue. There was a huge logo on the front that read Stigemound High (Fictional). Even the letters looked intimidating.
I gulped nervously as I looked at the swarms of people already in front of the school. "Alright, can you hurry up and leave? I don't want to be seen in the car with you two," Dylan said unlocking the doors for us.
"You think I want to be seen in the car with either of you?" Justin retorted back. I tuned them out, getting lost in my own thoughts.
I don't want to be here, I don't want to be here. I could feel my anxiety heightening. There were so many people. I couldn't spot one familiar face throughout the mass of others. To add to that, this was a new building, I could easily get lost. So many things could go wrong on the first day.
I snapped back to reality when I felt a hand on my knee. I looked up to see both Justin and Dylan staring at me. "Why are you crying?" Dylan asked. I quickly wiped the tears that I didn't know were coming down my face.
"Are you that nervous?" Justin asked when I didn't say anything. "Its just first-day anxiety. You will be okay," Dylan said rubbing soothing circles on my knee. Easy for him to say. "Yeah, if anyone bothers you, find me and I'll beat them up," Justin said flexing his nonexistent muscles.
"What!?" Dylan said looking at Justin.
"What do you mean what? That what you said I should do."
"You take them to a private place first. Then you beat them up," Dylan continued.
"And I'll help him beat them up. Can't have you both getting hurt," Dylan said turning his attention back to me. I laughed a little. That did make me feel a tiny bit better because I would definitely not put it past them, especially Dylan.
Justin put a hand to his chest. "You care?" he asked in mock happiness. "Shut up, and get out of my car," Dylan said with a straight face. Justin rolled his eyes. "It's okay. I know your ego won't let you admit it," he said. Dylan lunged at him, but Justin was already out of the car and running towards the school.
Well, It's not like Justin was totally lying.
"Do you feel better?" Dylan asked turning his attention back to me. I nodded. It wasn't completely true, but I don't want them to worry about me anymore. I'm sure I am just overreacting about every little thing, and everything will turn out to be fine. Its just first-day anxiety just like Dylan said. "Yeah, I am fine," I said.
"I can help you find your locker if you want," he said. I looked back to the huge building and decided that would be best. We exited his car. While we walked through the growing crowd of teenage kids I hugged my backpack closer than ever and stayed literally directly behind Dylan. He was like my human shield.
On the way to the office, Dylan stopped to greet a couple of people and to talk about the summer break. I just stood there awkwardly until his friends noticed me and said hi. When we finally reached the office it was packed. There were at least 50 students lined up to get their schedules and what not.
"I wonder if Justin got his schedule?" Dylan mumbled looking around. "I don't think it would make a difference if he did or not," I said. He would probably end up ditching most of his classes anyway. After about 10 minutes of waiting on this godforsaken line, I saw Grayson walking towards us with the biggest smirk on his face.
He slung his arms around both of us. "What a coincidence. In all this chaos I manage to find my two favorite people," He said grinning like I just told him all the food in the world was now free. " Coincidence? I think not. More like a curse," I mumbled as he and Dylan did their secret handshake. It was too ridiculously long and complicated to even try to remember.
I can still remember Sally and I's secret handshake.
"Have you gotten your schedule yet?" Dylan asked. "Yeah, bro. It's online. I got it yesterday," he said. I facepalmed myself. Its been online this whole time? "So we have been waiting on this line for nothing?" Dylan asked. He looked a little agitated.
"Yeah. I guess you are about as smart as the other 60 people on this line. Shows where our school is headed." Grayson said with a shake of his head. "And it's not a very good start," he whispered.
"Shut up," Dylan groaned. "Come on let's go," Dylan said grabbing my hand. "Where are we going?" I asked. "To get your schedule."

After getting our schedules, which was online after all. We went to the auditorium, where our school would be doing morning announcements, going over rules, and probably getting everyone situated.
It was here that I would have to be separated from Dylan. I still haven't seen any of my friends so I would be totally alone. I was holding his hand so tight, he couldn't go even if he tried. "Okay Lisa, you know I have to go to the Junior section right?" he asked as I was still gripping his hand.
"Y-yeah, yeah b-"
"Lisa," Dylan said bending down to my height. He placed both of his hands on either side of my shoulder. I stared into his eyes as he stared back into mines. "I'm sure you will be fine, okay? But you have to go to the freshman section. It's right across from the Juniors so I will be able to see you."
I was sure he only said that to ease my nerves since it was too crowded to see anything, but I went along with it anyway just to ease my nerves. I nodded. "Okay," I said. I am just going to suck it up and be a big girl. I am a freshman now, no more playing games.
I took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Good. Can you let go of my hand now?" Dylan asked gesturing to my hand still gripping his. "Oh, right," I said sheepishly letting go of his hand making my hand immediately cold. It was more like my hand slipped out of his with how sweaty it was.
Dylan wiped his hand onto his jeans and smiled at me. "Have a good day okay? I am sure you will see me at lunch," he said. "And remember no boys," he said walking away. I didn't get a chance to answer him because he was already blended in with the crowd. Now I was alone again.
I know before IÂ was complaining about having to go to school with my brothers, but now that I really think about it, I am really happy that they are. They might be annoying, but they are the only ones who truly know how to ease my nerves.
I turned around to find my seat, A-13FJ. I went down the rows all the while bumping into multitudes of people. I finally found my seat and sat down. The seats on either side of me were still empty. After a little, someone sat in the seat on my right. I turned to see that it was Lucas. (For those who forgot, Lucas is Sarah's (One of Anna's new friends) brother). On the other side of me sat Sarah.
I smiled feeling almost 90% better knowing I would be sitting next to people I know. I smiled at Lucas to which he returned the gesture. I was grateful to get even this much recognition from him because he usually very quiet around me.
"Oh hey Lisa!" she said very enthusiastically. "I'm so glad I get to sit near someone I actually like," she said playfully rolling her eyes. "No offense bro," she added, but it seemed that Lucas didn't even care. I laughed along with her. I was just relieved I didn't have to sit near some mean girl or some disgusting person who doesn't know what hygiene is.
The program soon began and the principal came out. He was actually a likable principal. He was a tall guy with dark hair and a really deep voice. He was probably in his mid 30's but he was really funny. He was not very strict. Come to think of it, he doesn't even give out detentions.
He tries his best to make sure everyone likes school. Which, he is going to need a lot of help this year with that, but all is good. He always started the morning off with some joke that no one ever found funny, but the way he said it made everyone laugh anyway.
He then went on to talk about where students would go for classes, where each grade level would be situated and the like. Soon enough we were heading to lunch. I was actually starving despite having a huge breakfast. During the assembly, I found out that we would be let out early since it was only the first day which in its entirety meant no work.
I walked into the crowded cafeteria of hungry teenagers trying to spot someone to sit with. I started to get nervous when I didn't see anyone. I didn't want to be that one person that sits alone at lunch. Or worse, eats in the bathroom.
I sighed of relief when I spotted Aerial's curly hair and Anna next to her. They were sitting at a small round table with Sarah and Lucas. I smiled as I walked over to them and sat in between Anna and Lucas.
"Lisa! Hasn't it been a long day? I am already starving and exhausted, and I have already bumped into soo many people I wonder how I even still have a head on my shoulders-"
"Aerial, I am sure Lisa is not interested," Sarah interrupted Aerial who seemed a little irritated. "Well, I needed to tell someone, since none of you would listen to me," she said. It seemed like she wasn't having a very good day.
"If it makes you feel any better, I didn't get to finish my breakfast this morning because Lucas rushed me," Sarah said shoving some pizza into her mouth. "The horror," Aerial said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Would you like some fries?" Anna asked pulling out some fries. Aerial immediately quirked up at the sound of that and snatched the fries from Anna. "This is pretty much how our friendship works," Sarah said when I laughed.
"Food solves everything okay?" Aerial said. "Alright, I will keep that in mind," I said shaking my head. "Its almost like I mean nothing to you," Anna said shaking her head at Aerial who was gouging down the fries.
"Of course you mean something to me. Who else will provide me with food as you do?" Aerial said. Everyone laughed including Anna. I guess this was just a typical Aerial.
"What are you eating?" Anna asked. I realized that I didn't get any lunch. I looked up and the lunch line doors were already closed. Why? I don't know. It hadn't even been that long since lunch started.
I groaned. I was so hungry. "Why did they close so early? There are like 1,000 kids in here," I said. Okay. I might have been overexaggerating, but still. "You can have the rest of my fries if you want," Aerial suggested.
I shook my head. I knew how much she loved her fries. "Thanks, but no thanks."Â "Suit yourself," she said. I will just have to wait until I get home. Suddenly, a bag of potato chips landed in front of me. "You can have that." I turned to see that it was Lucas. He continued eating his burger.
"Uh, thanks," I said. That would be a total of two sentences that he has said to me since we met. That is definitely progress, so I will take it. "Wait! Don't your brothers go here?" Sarah asked. Anna rolled her eyes but seemed interested nonetheless.
"Two of them actually. Dylan and Justin. The most annoying of them all," I said munching on a chip. While eating the potato chips, I looked around to see if I can spot any of my brothers. I spotted Dylan at a large rectangular table with at least a dozen guys.
There were also girls there who were flirting with them, or at least trying to. They looked like a bakery with all of the makeup caked to their face. And in the midst of it all sat Grayson, who seemed to be enjoying every second of it. Yeah, I am not surprised there.
My eyes wondered again until I found Justin sitting at a small round table similar to ours. Next to him sat his two best friends. It was just those three and they seemed to be talking about something very interesting by the look on Justin's face. Probably about a new videogame.
A couple of feet away from him I spotted Sally sitting with 3 guys and 1 other girl. She was dressed so inappropriately I wondered if she even had something on.
"God, they are so hot," Aerial said dreamily snapping me back to the current conversation. I scrunched up my face in disgust. "Please don't ever say that around me ever again," I said setting the potato chips down. I just about lost my appetite.
"Yeah Aerial. Have a filter," Anna said shaking her head. "Like none of you were thinking it," Aerial said throwing her hands in the air. "I wasn't," Lucas said. "Yeah, well I wasn't talking to you, Lucas," she said huffing. "You weren't specific either," he mumbled.
Aerial glared at him to which he smiled in return.

School was out, which I was very grateful for. Turned out I had English and Math with Anna, Biology with Aerial, and Anatomy with Justin and Lucas. I was now waiting with Justin outside near Dylan's car. School had been let out 15 minutes ago and he had yet to show his face.
I am sure there is nothing going on, on the very first day of school that had him so preoccupied. "This is ridiculous," Justin said throwing his hands in the air. I tapped my feet impatiently as I waited for Dylan to hurry up from whatever he was doing.
"I can not wait till I could drive. I would have been home by now," he continued. "Or in the hospital," I said to which I earned a glare from him. "You are lucky I am too tired to pay any attention to you."
I rolled my eyes and looked at my phone. I had called Dylan 5 times but to no avail. "Maybe I should hotwire it and drive it home," Justin said suddenly. I looked at him to see if he was joking, but he seemed pretty serious.
"NO, are you crazy?" I asked. "Let's just wait," I said. "Let's just wait," he mocked me in an overly high pitched voice. "Justin stop. You are acting like a toddler."
"Justin stop. You are acting like a toddler," he repeated. He stuck his tongue out at me when I glared at him. "You aggravate me to no end."
"You aggravate me to no end," I smirked when I thought of an idea. "Did I tell you about my boyfriend?" I asked with a small smirk on my face.
"Your what?" I heard someone ask behind me. I turned around to see both Grayson and Dylan with a not so happy face. "What are you talking about?" Dylan asked. I gulped and now it was Justin's turn to smirk.
"U-u-um I was just kidding," I stumbled out. Dylan squinted his eyes at me. "That better be true," he said getting into his car with Grayson in tow. "Nice try idiot," Justin said getting in beside me. I rolled my eyes.
I suddenly noticed that Grayson was in here. "Why are you in here?" I asked maybe a little too harshly. "Why are you in here?" he asked back. I gave him a confused look. "I am going home?" I said more like a question.
"Well then there is your answer," he said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "All of you are so annoying," I groaned out. "What did I do?" Dylan asked. I glared at him. "You brought him along," I said pointing to Grayson.
"And you took forever to get to the car. What were you doing anyway?" I asked. Justin also wanted to know since he perked up at the question. Dylan and Grayson both exchanged a look. "Nothing important.." he trailed off.
"Nothing important?" Justin asked. "Yeah, just had to do something quickly. It's no big deal," he said hiding a laugh. I sighed. Well, it looks like he won't last long without that detention after all.
We finally arrived at home, but I was a little confused about another car parked there. We all got out and went inside. Grayson, unfortunately, followed suit. When we got in, I was very surprised to see that it was my Dad.
Jason sat on one side of the couch staring at him, and my Dad was on the other side looking nervous as ever. Jacob was nowhere to be seen. "What is he doing here?" was the first thing that Dylan asked when he saw him.
Jason took his eyes off of our Dad and walked towards us. "Jonathan here wants to start being a father, so he wanted to start here," Jason said slowly as if saying it any faster would make Dylan kill the man in front of us.
I, on the other hand, didn't know what to say. I was happy that my Dad wanted to come back into our lives, but I was also a little frightened of a possible repeat.
We all just stood there awkwardly not really knowing what to say. I could tell Jason didn't even want him here by the way he kept looking at him. "So kids, how was your first day of school?" My Dad asked looking at us. The poor man looked so nervous.
"We aren't your kids," Dylan gritted out. "Dyl-" Jason began but was cut off.
"No! I don't know why he is here. He doesn't have any right to be here," he said getting angrier by the second. "Look, I understand-" My dad started but was cut off by the one and only Dylan. "You don't understand anything!" Dylan shouted. Grayson literally had to drag him outside to cool him off.
My Dad sighed hanging his head. I will admit, I felt a little bad for the guy. We were once again submerged into an awkward silence. My Dad and I made eye contact and I gave him a sad smile. At least he was making an effort. "What about you guys?" he asked Justin and me.
"It was fine," I said when Justin didn't say anything. "That's good," he said. "Look, I know this is very weird for you guys, and you most likely don't even want me here. But I have to start somewhere. I am trying to get back into your lives, one step at a time. I can't do that if you guys won't cooperate with me. All I am asking for is a second chance." he finished.
No one said anything for a while. Justin seemed to be thinking real hard about it, and Jason just stood there watching everything unfold. The look in my Dads eyes seemed sincere.
" Yeah? Well, you're out of second chances," Justin said before running upstairs. I would have at least thought Justin would have wanted our Dad back. I thought everyone would have wanted to give Dad a second chance, but it seemed I was the only one.
Sensing my frustration and disappointment, Jason stepped in. "Jonathan, I think its best you leave," Jason said. A number of emotions came over me, and I don't know what possessed me to say what I said.
"Wait! He can stay for dinner," I said and immediately regretted saying that. Jason looked at me as if I had gone crazy, but still seemed as if he was thinking about it. He looked at our Dad then at me again. I could tell he was really contemplating it.
"Alright."
I was silent for a little. Was I being selfish? I know I wanted my Dad back into our lives, but what if my brothers didn't?
I suddenly felt guilty. I am sure the only reason my Dad was even allowed to wait for us to get home, was most likely because of me. Jason said he would make an effort to help our Dad get back into our lives for my sake.
Could I be doing more harm than good?

You have reached the end of the book...
Lol. Just Kidding! Besides, that would be a terrible way to end a book. Don't worry, we have a long way to go before the end of this book. Besides that, let me know what you think, about the chapter, and I am always open to suggestions.
Also, I want to clear something up before it gets confusing. I know I mentioned that Lisa would be in 8th grade and Justin a sophomore, but I changed it a little. So now, Lisa is a freshman, and Justin is a sophomore. I did this because I also mentioned that Lisa would be 14 and Justin would be 15 so I thought it made sense.
Don't forget to:
Vote if you liked the chapter :)
Comment what you think.
And keep being fantastic ;)
And until next time,
