Approximately 20 minutes after Mom decided to drop in everyone had calmed down, even Dylan, well, sort of. He was still pretty ticked off about Moms visit. I'm pretty sure all of them were, they just weren't showing it as much as he was.
Grayson was upstairs talking with Dylan, meanwhile, Jason, Jacob, Justin and I were downstairs.
"Jason, this is ridiculous. You are a cop. Can't you just arrest her?" Justin asked. "It's not that easy, Justin," Jason said back sighing. I could only imagine how much stress he was under.
"What do you mean it's not that easy?" Justin shouted. Â "Justin," Jacob said sitting next to him. "Look, I know you are worried, and you're scared, but you have to believe us when we say we will handle it, okay?" Jacob said.
Justin looked at Jacob for a couple seconds, before nodding his head. "Fine," he said. I just sat in the corner quietly. Absorbing everything. I didn't know exactly what to feel.
The fact that she could just drop in at any time she pleased, scared me. And no matter what we do to keep her away from us, she will most likely just buy her way out like she did last time.
I just wish she would go away and never come by ever again. After a couple silent minutes, Grayson came downstairs. "Uum, Dylan is still upstairs cooling off. My mom wants me home, but I am right down the street if you need me," he said directing the last part of his sentence towards me.
"Alright, bye man," Jacob said doing a bro hug with him. Grayson was like another little brother to them. He left and it was yet again, quiet. My cheek was still very sore from earlier.
Justin came over and sat next to me. He examined the bruise a little. "Lisa, I don't know, but I think now is the right time to tell them about Dad," He whispered to me.
I did think about that for a while, but we don't know for sure. "Maybe Dad was only trying to help us, or he means no harm," I whispered back to him.
He had a look of conflict on his face. "See, I knew I shouldn't have told you," I said. "No, it's not that. Its just we are playing a dangerous game by not telling them. We don't know what could happen," he whispered back.
"I know, but can't we just wait a little while longer before we tell them?" I asked. He contemplated for a while. "Okay," he said. Â I nodded.
He got up, went to the kitchen and came back. He handed me an ice pack. "You should really put some ice on that," he said. I took it and flinched a little at the coldness but nonetheless, it was soothing.
Why can't we just all relax on a secret cruise in the Caribbean sipping Mai Tais? That is definitely on my to-do list before I turn 20. Jason walked towards me and bent down to my height.
"Lisa, did she say anything to you while you were down here?" He asked. I thought about what she said. It wasn't the first and I had a feeling it wouldn't be the last.
I shook my head no. I didn't want them to worry about anything else. They already had a lot on their plate, especially Jason. "Okay," he said nodding as if content.
He kissed both Justin's and I forehead, then went to speak with Jacob. Usually, Justin would wipe his kiss off in disgust, but I guess today was different.
I decided to go and check on Dylan seeing as though he was still up in his room. I knocked on his door. "Come in," I heard after a couple seconds.
I opened the door and saw him lying on his back on his bed. He was throwing a ball in the air. Â "Hey Dylan," I said. I could tell he was still a little bothered by what happened earlier.
I sat next to him. I hated when they were mad or upset about something related to me. He caught the ball and threw into the pile of other things that were taking over his room.
He looked at me then at the bruise that was slowly going away on my cheek. "I'm fine Dylan, you don't have to worry anymore," I said. "No, it's not fine Lisa," he said.
He continued when I didn't say anything. "She had enough guts to do that while we were still in the house. I can't stop thinking about what she might do if we aren't around to protect you or Justin," he said.
My heart literally broke at that. I didn't exactly know what to say to that. "But whatever, that won't happen again," he said. He said it with such determination it kinda scared me.
You just never knew what Dylan was going to do. "Dylan just don't do anything stupid," I said. "No promises," he said. He pulled out his phone and started texting, I am guessing Grayson.
Okay? I exited his room and went to mines only to find Jacob rummaging through my things. "Jacob what are you doing?" I asked startled.
"You have my hoodie. I know you do, where is it?" he asked. Â "Why don't you just get another one?" I asked. "Lisa, that one is my favorite, you know that," he said.
I went into my drawer and pulled it out. "Where are you going?" I asked. "Jason and I are going to deal with something," he said putting his hoodie on.
"Is is about Mom?" I asked. "Yeah, but don't worry we've got it handled," he said when he saw my worried expression. Then he left.

Jason's POV
"Jason, what exactly are we going to do?" Jacob asked. We were both in my car driving to the police station. I was going to do something about this I am a cop after all.
"We need a restraining order against her," I said. "But we have tried that, it didn't work," he said. "Well it will work this time," I said. I was sick and tired of her hurting my little siblings. I was sick and tired of her.
I just wanted her out of our lives for good. We arrived at the station and we both got out. I walked into the station to be greeted by my chief. "Kid, what are you doing here?" he asked.
"Larry I need to talk to you," I said getting straight to the point. He must have seen the look on my face because he guided us to his office. I took a seat in his chair while Jacob just stood in the corner.
"Jason, what is this about?" Larry asked. "Larry, I need a favor," I said. There was a brief silence. "For what?" he asked. I knew I could count on Larry. He was the one who helped me to get a job at the station when I was only 18.
"It's about our Mom, I need you to get us a restraining order against her," I said. He sighed. "Jason, you know I can't do that," he said. "Why not!?" Jacob asked.
Larry briefly looked at him then back at me. "Without any evidence of assault or something related I can't get you anything," he said. "Larry you know what's going on, you can do something about it," I said.
I was slowly starting to lose my patience. "Yes, I know but the judge needs to know as well, and from what has happened in the past, your mother has made reasonable excuses for the bruises. She has thought about that way in advance," he said.
Jacob was just watching Larry from the corner of the room, quiet which from him wasn't usually a good sign. I sighed. "Please Larry, I don't know what to do anymore, she is relentless. Do you know today she hit Lisa? Who knows what else she might do if we happen to not be around. This has to stop," I said.
I could see Larry contemplating what I was saying. I could practically hear the wheels turning in his head. "Jason, I want to help, really, but it's just not that easy," he said.
"What would you have done if it was someone you cared about?" Jacob asked. The room went silent. "Huh?" Jacob asked coming closer. Larry just kept silent. "Wouldn't you have tried to do everything you could to protect them?" he continued.
"So, we are just asking you this one favor one more time, because we promise you if you don't help us we will go to someone else for it," he finished. Larry looked at him then at me. "Fine," he said. "I will file for one, but I am not making any promises that it will go through," he said.
Jacob had a look of content on his face. "Thank you, Larry, I owe you two," I said. He nodded then led us out of his office. After a couple of small exchanges, we left the station and started the drive back home.
I looked towards Jacob who was on his phone. Â I sometimes wonder what he thinks about on a daily. "You know Jacob, I really appreciate you helping out, even though you don't have too," I said. He nodded.
"I'm serious. You have been a huge help," I continued.
I have never really thanked him for stepping up. Â He smiled. "Thanks, bro, now don't get soft on me," He said laughing and I joined in.
We pulled up to the house and walked in. "Jason, thank goodness you're here-" "Oh hey little bro I'm fine too," Jacob interrupted Justin. Â "Yeah, hi. I took Dylan's things and now he won't stop chasing me around the house," Justin said.
"Well, why did you take his things?" I asked sitting on the couch. "He was being a douche, so I took them," he said. Dylan came running down the stairs when his eyes landed on Justin.
Justin took off running outside and Dylan followed. "Those two should have been put up for adoption," Jacob commented. I went upstairs to look for Lisa who was in her room working on something.
"Hey what are you working on?" I asked sitting down next to her. "It's a scrapbook. I'm gonna put all of our best memories in it," She said. She glued a picture of a family picture we took ages ago on the front cover.
She closed it and stuck it in her drawer. "It's a surprise though, you can't see it till its done," she said. "Okay, okay whatever you say," I said surrendering.
There was a sudden high pitched scream. Lisa and I both rushed downstairs. I went downstairs to see Justin holding his ankle in pain, and Dylan was trying to help him up.
"What happened?" I shouted. "Oow, It was Dylan's fault he made me trip and fall," Justin said glaring through his tears at Dylan. "Are you okay?" Lisa ran to him asking.
"No, my ankle feels weird," he said. I looked at Dylan. "Dylan why would you do that?" I asked. "I didn't mean to he was being a brat," he replied.
I sighed. "Okay, does it hurt to stand on?"I asked. Â Dylan helped him up. 'A little yeah," He said limping a little. "Alright, Jacob can you get the medical bandages from the supply closet?" I asked
He nodded and went to get it. I picked Justin up and carried him to the couch. "Hey, be careful!" he said as I accidentally touched his ankle while setting him down. "Well maybe if you and Dylan weren't running around the house, then this wouldn't have happened," Jacob said bringing down the bandages.
"But it wasn't my fault," Justin whined, then wincing when I started wrapping his ankle. "I'm sorry Justin, I didn't know you would hurt ankle," Dylan said after being nudged by Lisa.
"I didn't hurt it, YOU did," Justin said back. Dylan rolled his eyes. "And I thought I was the clumsy one," Lisa said. Â "You are," everyone in the room said. "Well geesh," she said rolling her eyes.
"There, now don't put any pressure on it for a while, and if it still hurts after a couple days just tell me and I'll take you to the hospital," I said finishing his ankle. He nodded grumpily. "Thanks," He whispered.
"What was that? I didn't hear you," I said to him. "Thank you," he said louder. Great, Now let's see how long we can last before the next accident.
~Overprotective~
Lisa POV
I woke up the next morning feeling well rested. That is a rarity in it itself. Â I remembered all of the events from yesterday and it might have brought the mood down a little.
I did my usual morning routine and walked downstairs where three of my brothers were. I looked at the wall clock and it read 10:00.
Wow, no wonder I felt so well rested, I slept late. Â "Lookie here the princess is up," Dylan said drawing everyone's attention. "You must have been exhausted because you were out," Justin said.
I smiled and sat in between Justin and Dylan. "How does your ankle feel?" I asked Justin looking at his wrapped up ankle. "How do you think it feels?" he asked glaring at Dylan.
He was obviously still not over it. "I told you I was sorry. What more do you want from me?" Dylan said exasperatedly. Â "Well, maybe I should sprain your ankle," he said crossing his arms. Wow, he must really not be over it. Or he might just be stupid. It's Justin, but......nobody's that stupid.
Dylan looked at him for a long minute. "Your kidding right?" he asked with a short laugh. But Justin wasn't laughing. Dylan looked at him a minute longer.
"Okay, nobody's is spraining anyone's ankle," Jacob intervened. "-Anymore," he said looking at Justin. "I think we should do something fun today," I said breaking the silence. Dylan slung his arm around me.
"You know, to get our minds off of things," I added. Dylan nodded beside me. "Good idea kid," Jason said ruffling my hair from behind the couch. I honestly wished they would stop doing that. Where did he come from anyway? "Well, where do you suggest we go?" Dylan asked pulling out his phone.
"I don't know? That's your job. I only came up with the idea," I said. "Ooh, maybe we should see a movie!" Justin exclaimed. "Are you only saying that because of your ankle?" Jacob asked
"What! no," Justin said looking the next way. Jason flopped onto the couch next to us. "Well, we have until 1 to decide where to go, because most places should be open at around that time," he said also getting on his phone.
Geesh, what is it Phone Day? Even Justin was on his phone. I slid from under Dylan's arm and walked towards the kitchen. I stared at the fridge hoping something would just pop out of it on a plate ready for me to eat.
"You know if you keep staring at it any longer like that it might just run away?" Jason said walking into the kitchen. "Well I am hungry, but I don't want to make anything," I said slouching further on the stool I was sitting on.
I had no desire to physically move myself to make something to eat, yet I was so hungry. The world works in mysterious ways. Jason walked towards the fridge then back to the counter.
I gave him a weird look. "What are you doing?" I asked as he did the same thing. It was like he wanted to tell me something. He came around the island and sat next to me on the stool.
"Okay, before I tell you this, you know that you and your brothers are the most important people to me and no one can ever replace that," he said. "Yeah," I nodded slowly. He was making me sort of nervous.
"Well, I wanted you to be the first to know that I met someone," he said. It was like the words hadn't even left his lips, but left someone else. Did he say what I think he just said?
"What do you mean, you met someone?" I asked slowly. I wanted to make sure I heard him right. "Yeah, I met someone, as in a girl, and I wanted you to be the first to know," he said.
He searched my face for even the simplest hint of emotion. When my face broke out into a huge smile his relaxed. "I'm so happy for you Jason, you deserve it," I said giving him a huge hug. I could feel his entire body relax. "Oh, I am so glad to hear that," he said.
"I was worried you would get upset," he said releasing from the hug. I could see where he was coming from. If this girl was anything like Dylan's then I would simply leave the country.
But at the same time, I was a little worried that he would spend more time with her than me. "So when will I get to meet her?" I asked. "Oh not yet, we have only just met. I just wanted you to know in case things started to get serious," he said.
I nodded. "I really am happy for you Jason. You need someone else you can trust in your life," I said. "Wow, such wise words little one," he said chuckling a little. "Well you are rubbing off on me after all," I said
"Yeah, well don't tell any of the others yet, okay?" he asked. I nodded making the sealed lips and lock gesture. Â "Jason what are we going to eat. I am starving," Dylan said walking into the kitchen.
Jason rolled his eyes. "Make yourself something to eat. We are gonna eat once we get on the road," Jason replied walking out of the kitchen. Dylan turned towards the fridge and started sifting through it.
I couldn't tell if the entire Mom situation was still on his mind. At least if it was he was hiding it pretty well. "What do you want?" he asked. "Hmm?" I asked totally zoned out in my thoughts. "To eat dummy. What do you want to eat?" he asked chuckling.
"Oh anything," I said. Â He raised his eyebrow. Knowing him, and for my sake, I better adjust that phrase. "A sandwich," I said. He nodded and took out ingredients for a sandwich. Man does it feel good when you don't have to make your own food.
Justin came limping into the kitchen-well hopping mostly. "Hey what if I wanted something to eat too?" he asked sitting on the bar stool next to me. "Then make your own," Dylan said. I stuck my tongue out at him and he kindly returned the gesture.
"Fine," he said. We both raised an eyebrow at him. "JACOB," he yelled seconds later. Jacob walked into the kitchen looking bored as ever. 'What?" he asked.
"Dylan won't make me something to eat," he said. Is he serious? He is acting like a toddler. Jacob sighed. "Dylan can you make him something please?" he asked
"What! Why do I have to, I am already making two," he said. "Just because," Jason said shrugging. Dylan glared at Justin then rolled his eyes. "Fine," he said.
Justin smirked at him. He just loved torturing everyone. As long as I am not on the receiving end of it I was fine. Dylan for sure was going to get him back. "So kids, are you ready for school?" Jacob asked being a good brother and helping Dylan out.
"Heck yeah. I can't wait to wake up early, and get tons of homework and meet annoyingly boring teachers," Justin said with what I am hoping was sarcasm. It is hard to tell with him sometimes.
"Oh come one, it can't be that bad," Jacob said giving Justin his sandwich, and Dylan gave me mine. Now that I had some people that I could talk to, I wasn't too worried about anything.
Justin only grunted in response as he dove into his sandwich. "What about you Lisa?" he asked. "I think school will be fine," I said. "Wow, never thought I would hear those words come out of her mouth," Dylan said.
"Yeah, whatever," I said rolling my eyes at him as he chuckled. "What, we were all thinking it," he said. We all finished our sandwiches within five minutes. Two minutes for the boys.
"Do we have any idea where we are going to go?" I asked. "How about we go to the beach?" Justin asked. "Wow, that is the first logical phrase that has come out of your mouth since the day you were born," Dylan said.
"Ha, ha," Justin said dryly yet again glaring at Dylan. "Yeah, I think that is a good idea," Jacob said nodding his head in approval. "Alright, then it's settled," Jason said walking down the stairs. Does he just listen in on our conversations or what?
~Overprotective~
2 hours later and we are parked at the least busy beach in California. We all piled out of the car anxious to get into the water. Well, except Justin
He had to sit out because of his ankle.
"It's not all that bad Justin, you could build a sand castle," Jacob said ruffling Justin's hair. Â He limped ahead of Jacob not sparing him a glance. It's not that we didn't have any crutches for him. He was just too stubborn to use them.
Jason tried to get him to use them, but he thought it would make him look dumb. That's just Justin logic. Â "If it makes you feel any better, I will get the water for you," Dylan said smirking at Justin. He was just getting a kick out of this.
"How about we try to play nice this one time?" Jason asked setting up the beach blanket. "I took off my shorts and tank top revealing my one piece bathing suit. My brothers would not let me wear anything else. Apparently, it would be 'too revealing'. I even had to argue with them to let me wear this.
Jacob and Dylan came in their swim trunks and immediately raced for the water. Â I wasn't too fond of the water. I mostly liked the beach to catch a tan, which today I needed desperately.
Jason was the only one who came with a t-shirt on which he eventually took off and dove into the water. I relaxed on the towel and closed my eyes enjoying the nice warmth the sun gave off. It was so peaceful.
"Are you going to do that all day, you should help me build this sand castle," Justin said attempting to build a castle. I knew it wouldn't last long. Not with my brother within 1 foot of me.
"No, Justin I just want to relax here, is that okay with you?" I asked peeking up at him. "No, cause then I will be bored," he said tugging me up. I reluctantly sat up and glared at Justin which he paid no attention to. "How is it looking so far?" he asked.
I looked at the sloppy mess that lay on the sand. "Um, great," I said. Suddenly a shadow covered the lump of wet sand that Justin was molding. I looked up squinting to see who it was. It was Liam. I was frozen in my spot. What was he doing here?
"Hey cupcake," he said. Wow forward much? "Uum who are you?" Justin asked also looking up at the figure. Â "Oh I am Liam," he said sticking his hand out for Justin to shake, but all he got was air.
"Ok, well I met Lisa at the cafe down the road. I come here all the time on my days off and happen to bump into you," he said looking at me. I laughed nervously. "Oh well it's so nice to see you," I said twirling a piece of hair around my finger.
"Yeah, just thought I would stop by and say hello," he said. I only smiled and nodded. "Ok, you saw her, you can leave now," Justin said glaring at him. Liam looked at him then at me, winked and left. I could already see Dylan walking up to us. "Who was that?" Dylan asked with a look of confusion.
"Someone Lisa met at the cafe apparently," Justin said throwing me under the bus. Thanks a lot. "Why did he know you?" He asked. "He was only the cashier at that cafe we went to that's all," I said defensively. He had his hands on his hips and nodded. "Okay, but don't talk to him anymore," he said.
I rolled my eyes at his protectiveness but didn't respond. I learned the hard way not to argue with them about these things. Good thing it wasn't Jacob.
"Well I am going to get some snacks you want anything?" he asked. "Of course. I would like some chips, a coke, and snickers," Justin said adding more sand into his bucket.
"Dude," Dylan deadpanned. "Fine, just some chips," he said rolling his eyes. "I'll come with," I said getting up. We walked up to the little shack where you buy snacks. After about a minute for the line to disperse we were met with a girl.
She was really pretty she had short brown hair and blue eyes with little freckles. "Hey what would you guys like?" She asked looking at us. Dylan just stood there looking like a fool. "Uum we will have 5 bags chips and some refreshments," I said smiling up at her.
I nudged Dylan. "Dude, what's your problem?" I asked. He looked down at me. "Nothing," he said shaking his head. We got our things then went back to where Justin and everyone else was sitting.
"We got the snacks!" I announced tossing everyone a bag of chips. Justin snatched his up immediately and began hogging it down. I'm glad I am not related to him. Oh, wait I am.
"Uum I will be right back," he said then left and walked back towards the shack. "Guys I think Dylan has a crush," I said making sure he was out of hearing distance. He is gonna hate me for this. "Your kidding?" Jacob said laughing.
"No, he lost his tongue when we were buying our snacks," I said spilling everything. I feel like such an evil little sister. I loved it. Â "Oh this is golden, I am so using this on him," Justin said laughing maniacally.
"Props to him," Jason said finishing his back of chips. "Hey, why is it you guys are happy whenever Justin or Dylan gets a girl, but If I bring home a boy everyone gets mad," I said. "It's more than that sweetheart," Jason said looking at me.
Yeah, it's being sexist but I didn't say that out loud. Dylan came back with a little smile playing on his lips. "What's up lover boy?" Jacob asked laughing. Dylan immediately looked at me. Â "You said something didn't you?" he asked glaring at me.
I gave him a sheepish smile. Â "Are you sure she wasn't blind. Maybe she had a prosthetic eye in," Jacob commented. "Very funny, but I will have you guys know I am very hot,". Everyone burst out laughing except Dylan.
"What's her name?" Jason asked. "I'm not telling you guys," he said. "What why not?". "Just because," he said smirking. "Okay then we will just figure out, I am a cop after all," Jason said. Â "Come on Jason you always do that," Dylan exclaimed. "Cause I can," he said now playing the smirk.
~Overprotective~
We spent a couple more hours at the beach before we decided to go home. Jacob had to help Justin into the car because he was being a baby about his ankle.
"That was a fun day," I said as we were all piled into the car. Everyone agreed. "I bet it was especially nice for Dylan," Justin sang. "Shut up before I sprain your other ankle," he said about to lunge at Justin. Sadly I was sat in between them.
When will their fighting stop?
~Overprotective~
