I woke up to snickering. What a great start to the day already. I felt like I was swaying as if I was in a boat on a river. I slowly peeled my eyes open to meet the sky above. How in the world?
"Do you think she is gonna notice?" Someone said. What are they talking about? I rubbed the sleepiness in my eyes. I was still somewhat disoriented as to where I was.
I began to sit up and felt whatever I was on sway significantly. At this point, I was startled awake. "Omg this is hilarious she looks so confused," someone else said. I looked around me and that is when I realized I was in the pool.
I was completely surrounded by water. I carefully sat up, and that is when I saw the culprits behind this brutal awakening. Okay, I might be a little dramatic but I and water are not friends.
"What did you guys do?" I asked slowly even though it was quite obvious. "Yo dude are you getting this?" Dylan asked Jacob who was holding his phone up recording I am guessing. "Oh yes, " he said laughing. What, Jacob is in this too?
"Jason, help," I said looking at him. Maybe he wasn't as crazy as these nutjobs. He just shrugged while sitting on our lawn chair watching this all unfold.
Is my torture like some sort of sitcom for him? " I already knew who was behind this. "Well, if you wanted to take a swim so bad you should have just said so Lisa," Justin said in a teasing manner.
I was about to lunge on him when I almost toppled over into the water. I didn't know whether I was in the shallow end or the deep end. As I have mentioned before I am not a good swimmer at all.
If I fell into the water I would surely drown. "Come on guys get me out of here," I said. "Not until we have had a little fun," Dylan said. I groaned out.
I was sticking to this mattress like a leech. "Justin, what happened to our truce?" I asked. "We never had a truce, I told you I would make Dylan help me get you back," he said with that stupid smirk on his face again.
"Yeah, I just wanted to do this for fun," Dylan said after a short pause. He smiled then went inside for something. I looked to Jacob hopefully. Maybe he has some humanity in him. "Sorry, kiddo majority rules," he said.
"Oh come on guys you know I hate the water," I said. If my talking won't work I will have to guilt trip them. "You will be fine, just don't topple over," he said and here I was thinking he was the good brother.
"Jason, come on, please get me out of here," I said with as much sadness as I could muster. I could see him contemplating. "Come on man, don't switch on us," Justin whispered to him.
"Sorry sweetie," he said folding his hands behind his head. "What, if I die, you will become an accomplice to my murder," I said still clinging tightly onto the mattress.
Dylan came outside with water guns, "Oh this is gonna be fun," Justin said taking one of the water guns from Dylan. "We can still talk about this right?" I asked.
"Nope, "Dylan and Justin said at the same time. This was just too much fun for them, wasn't it? Jacob was still recording and Jason was lounging.
Without any warning, they started shooting me with the water gun. I covered my face from the harshness of the water. "STOP," I screamed out, but it fell onto deaf ears. Why am I always the one to get annoyed?
Without my hands supporting me on the mattress I lost my balance and fell into the water, it took me a while to find the bottom and realize I was in the shallow end.
I coughed up some water and glared at my brothers who were rolling on the ground laughing. "I could have drowned you know," I said with my hands on my hips. I had to look as intimidating as possible.
"No, you weren't, you were in the shallow end all along," Dylan said through fits of laughter. "Hmmp," I said as I waded out of the water and went inside. "Oh, come on, don't be mad," Jason said chasing after me.
I proceeded up to my room disregarding them, not even worrying if I left puddles of water on the floor. "Yeah, Lisa it was just some harmless payback, don't be a baby," Justin said.
"I am NOT being a baby," I said stopping in my tracks. "You're the one being a baby," I said pointing at him. I must look like such a brat right now, but I don't care. "How am I being a baby?" he asked with his hands on his hips as well.
"I don't know, you just naturally are," I said. We had a glare off, none of us wanted to back off. "Okay, kids," Jason said stepping in between us.
"This is all his fault, he started this when he decided to prank me," I said crossing my arms. "Well, you know what they say, payback is a-," Jason gave Justin a glare, "You better not finish that sentence," he said.
"Let's just forget about this, and call a truce," Jason said looking at the both of us. Justin and I glared at each other for a little while longer, before we both stuck our hand out. "Truce," we both said at the same time.
~Overprotective~
After about an hour since Justin's little payback, if that's even what he wants to call it, Jason finally decided to make some breakfast. Dylan and I were both sat at the island watching Jason make breakfast.
"So are we going to do anything today?" I asked. "Yeah, there is nothing for us to do, and you won't let me invite my friends over," Dylan said.
"Well maybe you shouldn't have come home so late last night," Jason said pointing at him with the spatula. "It was Jacobs fault," He said exasperatedly. "Don't care," Jason said in a sing-song voice. "Ooh, Dylan got into trouble," I sang.
"Shut up," he groaned out and left the kitchen. Jason and I both laughed. "So are we going to do anything today?" I asked. "Well, maybe it depends on how the day goes," he said flipping eggs.
"Hhmm," I said. "Did you have something in mind?" he asked. "No, not really," I said. All I could think about at the moment was when I was going to eat.
I wasn't sure whether I should tell him about the little episode with Dad following me. It could turn out to be nothing, so why should I worry about it? Or...maybe it could be something.
I decided not to tell him, for now, I will have to see what happens next. "Hey, have any of you seen my charger?" Jacob asked looking around the house.
"Uum, no not here," Jason said scooping the eggs into a bowl. "No, I haven't seen it either," I said. "Uum, Jacob don't get mad," Justin said coming down the stairs.
Oh no, whatever is about to come out of Justin's mouth isn't gonna be something Jacob wants to hear. Jacob looked at him waiting for him to explain. "Well," Jacob said impatiently.
"I might have borrowed your charger because mines broke, but in the process, there is a possibility that I dropped it into the pool and it got stuck in the pool cleaner, and it broke while I tried to pull it out," Justin said slowing walking back up the stairs. He knows what's about to happen next.
"Oh well, you should have just told me," Jacob said walking towards the stairs. "Really?" Justin asked. "No you idiot, get back here," Jacob said as he chased Justin back up the stairs.
"What a great morning, don't you think?" Jason asked leaning against the counter sipping some of his coffee. "Pft no wonder I am your favorite," I said with a cheesy smile.
He only laughed in response. In my book, that is a yes. "HOW DO YOU EVEN DROP A CHARGER IN THE POOL," I heard Jacob shout as he was still chasing Justin around.
"Would you like some breakfast, Lisa?" Jason asked getting a plate ready. "Yes, I would love some," I said in a British accent. We both laughed and waited to see how long it would take the boys to notice breakfast was ready.
It didn't take long before Dylan followed his nose. "Yes, about time," he said getting a plate. I actually finished my meal in under 20 minutes, which is a lot for me, since I am such a slow eater.
Jason decided to call Jacob and Justin to come down and eat since it seemed like Jacob was gonna chase him forever. Just as I was about to wash my plate, there was a knock at out front door.
I immediately got up to answer it. Jason grabbed me and set me back. "You can't just answer the door, without seeing who it is," he said going to the door to look through the peephole.
He opened the door and bent down and picked up an envelope, it looked quite similar to the first one we got. Jason gave it a puzzled look.
Jacob came near Jason. "Wait, is that?" he asked trailing off. Jason opened the envelope, and just as I suspected a whole heap of bills came out. "Woah, who keeps sending us money?" Justin asked, but the look on his face was entirely different than the one on Jasons and Jacobs face.
His was of pure excitement, theirs was the opposite. "Why does he keep sending that?" Jacob whispered. Who was he? What were they talking about?
Justin pulled me to the side. "Lisa, I think we need to play detective," he said. I stared into his bright blue eyes. Then looked at Jason and Jacob who were discussing the money.
I nodded. "Who do you think they are talking about?" I asked. "I don't know, but he seems to be a really rich person if he keeps sending us all of that money," he said looking at the wad of cash on the floor.
"Yeah," I agreed. "Come on let's look outside, maybe they left something," Justin said grabbing my hand. "Well, be right back," Justin yelled out as we ran out the door. "Wai-," we didn't even wait to hear what Jason had to say.
We ran towards the front where we suspected the person might have been. "Wait, what exactly are we looking for?" I asked Justin looking around at the grass.
"I don't know it sounded cool when I said it," he said. "Really," I said giving him a bored look. Just as I was looking at him, my eye caught movement behind him.
I almost passed out when I saw who it was. It was my Dad. This is most definitely not a coincidence. Since yesterday at the lake, and now this. Definitely not a coincidence.
"Justin look behind you," I said "Hurry," I said when he hesitated. "This isn't payback or anything, just look!" I exclaimed. I was worried he would be gone before Justin got a chance to see what I was talking about.
He turned around and barely got a chance to see the man turn the corner. "Did you see him?" I asked. "Who was that?" he asked. "It was Dad," I said. "Come on Lisa, don't joke around like that," he said in a serious tone.
"I'm serious, I am not joking. I saw him all yesterday too. I think he is stalking us," I said Justin turned around again and looked at the spot our Dad was just at.
"We have to tell Jason or Jacob," Justin said. "No, we can't. You know they will overreact and make it a big problem," I said. "Besides he hasn't really done anything has he, he has just been watching us I guess," I said.
"And that doesn't seem a little weird to you," he said. I hate it when Justin's the logical one. "I know, I know how it sounds, but let's just hold off a little please?" I asked. I gave him the puppy eyes for added effect.
"Fine, but we have to tell them if it starts to get out of hand," he said. "Okay," I said. "Well, there is nothing out here, that could tell us who would be delivering that money," Justin said scratching his head.
That's when it struck me. It was Dad, he has been delivering money to us all of this time. It had to be him."Justin, I think I figured it out," I shouted out. "What?" he asked. "It was Dad, he was the one whos been delivering money to us," I said.
"Don't you think it makes sense, he is stalking us, and just as money is delivered to our front porch, he is walking away," I said putting all of the pieces together.
Justin's eyes lit up like it does when he gets a Victory Royale in Fortnite. "That does make sense," he said slowly after working his small brain. I know it can be quite tough for him sometimes.
"Justin, Lisa get back inside," Dylan shouted out the front door. We went inside to find no money on the floor. "Hey, where did the money go?" Justin asked.
"Don't worry about it," Jacob said ruffling Justin's hair. I assumed Jason was up in his room. I went up to check and sure enough, he was. He was on a phone call and the door was locked.
Part of me wanted to listen to his conversation, and the other part would feel guilty if I did. I decided not to listen, as much as I wanted to.
Whatever the reason Dad kept sending us money was really aggravating Jason and Jacob. The doorbell rang again, and this time I didn't run so fast to answer it.
I stood by the end of the stairs as Dylan went to answer the door. And guess who walked in? It was Dylan's friend Grayson. I rolled my eyes at his very presence.
"Hey, man what's up?" Dylan said doing the universal guy handshake. He invited him in and closed the door. I regretted being downstairs now. "Oh, hey spicy," Grayson said winking at me
Dylan slapped him upside the head. "Watch it," he said dragging him up the stairs. I stepped to the side to give them room to go up. "I'll take the pain for you any day," He whispered as they walked past.
I cringed and continued to the living room. I grabbed my phone and flipped through my messages. One caught my eye in particular. It was from Liam. I still hadn't answered him back from that time he texted me.
I was too confused as to how he got my number, or who gave it to him. I decided I would answer him finally as it has been a couple of days. 'Hey' I texted to him. He answered almost immediately.
Ok. 'What are you up to?" he texted. Should I tell him what I am doing? I mean I'm not really doing anything. Just as I was going to reply to him, my phone was snatched from my hand.
"Hey!" I exclaimed. I looked up to see Jacob holding my phone. "Who are you texting?" he asked scrolling through my phone. "Don't read my messages, Jacob," I whined.
I tried to jump and reach for it, but he was way taller than me and held it higher. "Who is Liam?" he asked. I wanted to become an ant and be stepped on.
"He is no one," I said still trying to reach for the phone. "Oh, so it's a he," He said raising his eyebrow. I knew I should have changed the name to something else. "Come on Jacob," I said pouting.
"Why are you texting him?" he asked looking at me. "No, reason," I said. At this point, I stopped trying to reach for my phone, cause I know I won't get it back until I answered some questions.
"So, how did he get your number?" he asked. "Who are you, the police?" I asked. "Uum, actually I am one in training so technically, yes," he said smirking at me.
That stupid face. "Well, you are not the boss of me," I said crossing my arms. "We'll see about that," he said starting to type on my phone. "Hey, what are you doing?" I asked trying to reach for my phone again.
He was holding me back with one hand and texting with the other. "And send," he said. He gave me my phone back and I immediately read the text.
It read, 'Im sorry I am not old enough to date, I am still a little baby. Please move on to another girl and never contact me again,' Jacob laughed when he saw my reaction. "Now, you don't have to worry about Liam," He said smiling.
"Ugh, Jacob you are so annoying," I said glaring at him. "Aww your so adorable," he said pinching my cheeks. I swatted his hands away and dramatically stomped up the stairs. I went into Justin's room and flopped onto his bed.
I checked my phone to see if he replied back, and he did with, '???'. How am I supposed to explain that? I decided to worry about that later.
I needed to occupy myself with something. I wasn't going to try to bother Justin because who knows what other schemes he will come up with.
"Hey Justin want to play C.O.D with us," Dylan asked with Grayson in tow. "Yes, which one?" he asked. "Black ops 4. Grayson brought it over," he said. No, what was I going to do? "Ooh, can I play?" I asked.
All of three of them looked towards me. "Spicy wants to play?" Grayson said. Dylan gave him a look. "Sorry," he said quickly. "Pros club only,' Dylan said about to leave.
"Wait, I can be good at that game," I said defending myself. What he doesn't know is that whenever I went over to Sally's house we practiced the games they played so that we can humiliate them. Its always been my dream.
"You can't play Lisa, your barely any good at that game," Justin said. They started to leave. "Come on, let's give her chance. See what she's got," Grayson said.
"Fine," Dylan said reluctantly, and I gave him a little smirk. He rolled his eyes and continued to his room. I followed suit. His room was by no means clean, but the other boys didn't seem to mind, so I tried not to say anything about it.
"Okay, who wants to beat her first?" Dylan asked handing out controllers. Grayson inserted the game into the console, and we all sat on Dylan's bed.
I smiled letting them think, I don't know what I am doing, but just wait until the game starts they are gonna be in for a shock.
~Overprotective~
Two rounds later, and the boys were beyond shock. "This game is rigged, how could she win," Justin said pulling at his hair. "Thank you, Thank you, now I like my fries crispy," I said.
"I thought you were terrible at this game," Dylan said with his mouth still open. "I have been practicing," I said. "Oh, boy did she show you guys," Grayson said. Dylan glared at him.
"That was just luck," Dylan said. I nodded, realizing his ego was too big to accept the fact that I beat him at one of his favorite games. "well, whatever you guys are boring to play with anyway," I said exiting the room.
"What kind of gamer loses to their little sister?" Grayson laughed out. "Shut up, why am I even friends with you?" Dylan shouted. Oh, he was so annoyed I could tell.
Just as I was about to sit on the couch our doorbell rang again. How many times? How many? I got up and answered the door without looking through the peephole mainly because I couldn't reach it.
When I opened it my breath caught in my throat. It was my mom. "Step aside Analisa I need to talk with your brother," She said walking past me. She was dressed so elegantly. Her heels clicked as she went to the living room.
She looked me up and down, then shook her head as if in disapproval. "You are such a disgrace you know that?" she said. "Why are you here?" I asked. My voice was shaking. She walked up to me and slapped me. "Don't speak to me that way," she said.
Tears immediately sprung from my eyes. I always felt like a lost cause when I was around her.
I ran up the stairs not wanting to be around her any longer. My heart was thumping a thousand beats every split second. I was shaking. How could she just walk in? After everything, she has done? She just waltzes into the house as if she still lived here.
She always has this effect on me, no matter what she always seems to make me just wanna die. I ran to Jason's room and threw the door open. I almost couldn't breathe at this point, it felt like a panic attack.
Jason and Jacob, startled, both looked at me. "Lisa, what happened?" Jason asked rushing to my side. "U-um m-m-mom is h-here," I stuttered out. "What?" Jacob asked.
Jason led me to his bed and sat me down. "Lisa, calm down," he said rubbing my back. I could only point outside of Jason's bedroom and hoped they got the point. "I'll check it out," Jacob said leaving the room.
I shut my eyes tight to try to shake off this attack. Jason continued to hug me and rubbed my hair until I calmed down. "I'm sorry," I said. I don't know why I was apologizing, but I felt like I had to. "Don't apologize, sweetie, don't apologize," he said kissing my forehead.
Jacob walked into the room. His fist was balled and he looked really ticked off. "Come downstairs," was all he said before he left. I knew exactly why he was that way.
"I'm coming right back, okay?" Jason said before he kissed my forehead and left. Trust me, I wanted to stay, but I wanted to see what was going on. I crept to the edge of the hallway where I could see into the living room.
"You have a lot of nerves to show up here like this," Jason said. "Well, I have important things I need to talk about," she said. "I. don't. care," Jason gritted out.
Our mother stood up. "Honestly, I don't care what you think of me, Jason. I am here to talk about the money your father have been leaving," she said. "Trust me, we don't care about that, I have already spoken to him about it," Jason said.
Jacob was just leaning on the counter observing, and I guess to hold Jason back if things got out of hand. Jason was like a ticking time bomb whenever it came to our parents.
"And, what do you care if we get any money from him, you seem to be fine," Jason said looking her up and down. She adjusted her Gold lined purse on her shoulder.
"It's my money," she said. She didn't even look at Jason when she said that. "Dylan you always do that, I wanted to be player 1," Justin whined coming out of Dylan's room.
Jason heard them and looked upstairs. "Okay, if that's all you came to talk about, you can leave now," Jason said. She was just about to leave when Jason stopped her.
"And before you leave, don't you dare think about coming back here again like this," Jason said with such an intimidating voice, it made me want to burst out crying.
"Lisa, what are you doing?" Dylan asked. Grayson and Justin were also coming towards me. I motioned for them to be quiet. I pulled them into Jason's room. "Mom was just here," I said. "What!" Dylan exclaimed.
I was still a shaken up by what she said, although by now I should be used to it. I don't know why I am always the one she targets. "Wait, what's on your face?" Grayson asked touching the spot where my mother slapped me. I winced as he touched it.
I guess it had already started to bruise. "She did that didn't she?" Dylan asked. I nodded. He balled his fist and then went downstairs without saying another word.
"You should probably put some ice on it," Grayson said. "Its fine, I'm okay," I said pulling away. He seemed a little saddened at that but didn't say anything.
"Did she say why she was here?" Justin asked. "She said its something to do about the money Dad kept bringing," I said. We didn't mind that Grayson was here because he was already caught up to date.
He only nodded. "LISA," Jason shouted up the stairs. I went down and hugged him. "Are you okay?" he asked. I nodded. There was no sign of my mother. Jacob was outside talking to Dylan who looked pretty ticked off.
All I could say is I don't know what I would have done if my brothers weren't home.
