Haylanâs voice rang in Harperâs ears like a clap of thunder.
It sent shivers down Harperâs spine, and he almost dropped to his knees. His head kept buzzing. He gaped at Haylan with astonishment in his eyes.
âThis guy has a booming voice!â he thought.
Charlie and Felicia stared after Haylan, a strange feeling welling inside them.
âIs he trying to protect us?â they wondered.
At this moment, Sam walked to Harper and pointed at Haylan with his menacing eyes fixed on him.
âHarper, that guy beat me. You must make him pay!â
Harper gave Haylan a surly look and then turned around, slapping Sam on the face.
âYou useless trash! You canât even beat someone like him?
âGet out of my sight!â
Being hit and yelled at, Sam didnât say anything and quietly moved to the side.
Harper lit a cigar before his cold eyes swung back to Haylan. âMan, you chose to stand against me the moment you beat Sam.
âIf you get down on your knees and apologize, I can spare your life.â
Harper spoke with smoke from his nose and arrogance written all over his face.
âDidnât you hear me?â Haylan asked with a gloomy face.
âThatâs my line,â Harper replied, his eyes colder.
In the Lightdom City, wherever he went, people groveled with their tails between their legs.
No one dared to talk to him as Haylan did.
âGet out of here, now!â Haylan snarled.
âHaylanâ¦â
Charlie and Felicia were startled by the homicidal look on Haylanâs face.
âIs this Haylanâs way of doing things?
âProvoking Harper like this is adding fuel to the fire, and the consequence is disastrous,â Charlie thought anxiously.
âShut up, you fool!â Charlie hissed and stomped his feet. His forehead was wet with sweat, and he had no idea what he could do.
There were too many people around them. Storming out was not feasible.
Harperâs eyes glinted with malice.
He strutted to Haylan and stopped inches away from him. âLet me tell you something. The last man who talked to me like that was thrown into the sea,â he said coldly.
âThe last man who talked to me like doesnât talk anymore,â Haylan retorted.
âYouâre dead!â
Harperâs gaze sharpened as he suddenly raised his fist and threw it at Haylanâs chest.
Slap!
Haylan lifted his hand and easily caught Harperâs fist.
âWhat?â Harperâs expression changed.
Bang!
Before Harper came to his senses, Haylan grabbed him by the back of his neck and bumped his head. on the ground.
The floor cracked. Harper crumbled onto the ground, his head bloody.
He let out a cry and felt so unsteady, unable to figure out how he had ended up on the ground.
Haylan was so fast, and left him no time to react.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The next moment, Haylan held the back of his head and repeatedly banged it on the ground.
When he stopped, a dip appeared on the ground. As he lay dying on the ground, blood flowed from Harperâs seven orifices, even more severely injured than Sam.
His blood soon colored the dirt beneath him crimson.
Everyone gasped.
Sam and all the other hooligans looked appalled.
They couldnât believe that Haylan had also beaten the living daylights out of Harper.
None of them had imagined it.
Charlie and Felicia were struck numb too.
They had braced themselves for a violent beating, but Haylan brought Harper down single-
handedly.
Harper lay in a pool of his own blood, gasping for air. Humiliation and excruciating pain kept him from passing out, and he bawled, âHow dare you! I swear to kill you!â
Everyone in this neighborhood shuddered at the mention of his name, but here he was, beaten up by Haylan in front of so many people. If word got out, heâd be the butt of the joke for the rest of his life.
He must do away with Haylan to save his face!
With that said, he clenched his teeth, took out the knife he brought with him wherever he went, and charged at Haylan despite the pain each step caused him.
âYouâre too noisy.â
Haylan looked at him with icy eyes and streaked forward, driving his knee into Harperâs chest and sending him flying. Blood gushed from Harperâs mouth when he landed far away.
Harper spat out the blood in his mouth and felt all his organs had been squashed. He looked outraged when he howled furiously, âWhat are you waiting for? Kill, kill him!â, Only then did those thugs remember what they were there for and dash headlong toward Haylan.
âStop, all of you!â
At this moment, a sad voice sounded.
Soon, a Rolls-Royce came into sight and stopped in front of Haylan.
Those thugs had never seen such a luxurious car before, and all kept a distance from it.
They knew theyâd have to pay more than they could afford if they left a scratch on it.
Haylan looked wary too.
18:23 1 âI didnât know a third party was involved,â he thought.
The window of the Rolls-Royce was rolled down, revealing the middle-aged man behind it, whose eyes were as sharp as those of an eagle.
âWho are you?â Haylan asked perplexedly.
âNice to meet you, Mr. Jaber. Iâm Landon Katz.â
The middle-aged man got off the car and bowed to Haylan politely. âMs. Labenz learned that your family is in trouble and sent me to help you. She said she owes you a favor.â
âMs. Labenz? Whoâs she?â Haylan still looked bemused.
âThe woman who gave you a card on the plane,â Landon replied.
Haylan cocked an eyebrow.
So Ms. Labenz was Reign Labenz.
Given that she was the richest woman in the country and had lots of resources, Haylan wasnât surprised that it didnât take her long to find out everything about him and even send someone to help him.
âSheâs on her high horse, huh? Sheâs indebted to me but sent her subordinate to return her favor,â
Haylan thought.
âMr. Jaber, Iâll take over from here.â
Landon gave Haylan a nod and then spun on his heel locking his gaze on Harper. âHarper Zeller, do you know me?â
âLandon Katz, the Super Slayer? W-What brings you here?â
Harperâs eyes flew open when he saw Landon. He was terrified and had a sinking feeling.
âWhatâs going on?
âWhat is Landon doing here?â he thought in confusion.
Landon was the head of the security forces of the Labenz family, the most prestigious family in the four great families of Lightdom City. He was also Albert Labenzâs personal bodyguard. He once served in Special Forces and was a master of Eight Extremities Punches.
A clueless ruffian had once kidnaped the son of the Labenz family. Landon found where he and his accomplices were holed up and went to save the boy all by himself. There were thirty-eight armed.
ruffians in total. Landon killed all of them and brought the boy back in one piece.
Their safe return had caused quite a stir in the Lightdom City.
Since then, Landon had been known as the invincible Super Slayer.
Harper couldnât understand why the Super Slayer had suddenly shown up.
âItâs good that you know me.â
Landon continued emotionlessly, âMr. Jaber is a distinguished guest of the Labenz family. No one is allowed to lay a finger on him and his family.
âViolators will pay with their lives.
âHave I made myself clear?â
Boom!
His words slammed into everyone like a tsunami.
Harper, Sam, and all the other thugs opened their eyes wide and couldnât believe their ears.
âHaylan is a distinguished guest of the Labenz family?
âHowâs that possible?â they thought.
They moved their eyes to Haylan, and all looked shocked and horror-stricken.
Apparently, they had messed with the wrong guy.
Their hearts sank at the desperate realization that they were doomed.
