In Grandblue Palace, Lan Yun was currently cultivating in seclusion.
"Master, disciple Gongsun Yan begs for an audience." A young man dressed in white stood at the door with a strange look on his face.
"Speak." Lan Yun didn't open the door or come out to see him.
Gritting his teeth, Gongsun Yan recounted the news that had been making its way around Myriadpath Valley.
"Oh, I see. You may leave," Lan Yun calmly said.
"Master, I..." Gongsun Yan said, his head lowered and an ugly expression on his face.
"What else do you have to say?" Lan Yun asked.
"Did eighth brother die in vain? He adored you," Gongsun Yan couldnât help but ask after holding back for such a long time.
Frost suddenly formed on his body as Lan Yunâs order suppressed him, causing him to scream in pain and fall to his knees, his face pale.
"What do you mean âdie in vainâ?" Lan Yun asked.
"Master, I was wrong, I shouldn't have asked," Gongsun Yan quickly begged.
"It has nothing to do with whether or not it's a question you should ask. I'm asking you, what do you mean by âdie in vainâ?" Lan Yun coldly repeated.
Gongsun Yan appeared upset. He couldn't bear it anymore. "I mean... the murderer is still at large."
"If you canât accept his death, avenge him. Why stand here and talk about it?" Lan Yun asked.
"Master?" the wide-eyed Gongsun Yan asked. "I can deal with him?"
"Have I ever forbidden you from doing so?" Lan Yun replied.
Upon further reflection, Gongsun Yan realized there was no such thing and his eyes lit up.
"My disciples should rely on themselves! Stop being so wordy and wasting time. I'll give you a chance to fairly compete. You even have an advantage," Lan Yun said.
"Yes! Master, thatâs what Iâve been waiting for. Iâll tell my senior brothers!" Gongsun Yan excitedly said. He realized that he had misunderstood Lan Yun. She wasnât biased at all; she just didn't care about her disciples fighting one other.
"Get out," Lan Yun said.
"Yes!" Gongsun Yan climbed to his feet. Although he was happy, he suddenly recalled something. Reverend Daolie was waiting for Tianmingâwould he have a turn at revenge?
"Haha, forget it. I donât have to worry about it. This kidâs already shot himself in the foot.â Tianming would certainly die. More importantly, Gongsun Yan understood what his master meant. She wasnât partial to anyone, which was a good thing for him.
Just as he was beside himself with joy, he heard a loud boom and a blue light shot out from Lan Yun's palace, heading toward the Skyward Grandpath. Gongsun Yan's smile froze on his face.
"Master isnât going to save him, is she? Probably not...." The more he thought about it, the stiffer his expression grew.
......
The entrance of Myriadpath Valley, under the myriadpath stele.
Reverend Daolie and the others had been waiting for the past few days. Myriadpath Valley was different from nova source worlds; it only had one commonly used entrance, so they would eventually encounter Tianming, but they couldnât stay there long. Tianming was also unlikely to return after slaughtering so many people, hence their investigation of the Greenhaze Mundus. Without a stareye relay in that particular mundus, their investigation would take some time.
In truth, he was afraid that Tianming would never return and sneak into other mundi instead. There was nothing they could do if Tianming was willing to give up a bright future. After all, the Million Mundi was extremely vast. Searching for someone was like looking for a needle in a haystack, unless they had information about his family and origins that they could use to threaten him. At the moment, they were waiting for the results of the investigation.
It was clear how outrageous the matter was for a reverend to wait around and personally take action. Reverend Daolie himself was furious. He hoped that Tianming was stronger, or at least a foundationeer. That way he would still retain some dignity. But a hundred-year-old child? Now that was ridiculous!
Lan Yun burst into laughter as soon as she left Myriadpath Valley and met Reverend Daolie. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"I have an agreement with Qingyuan and Shujian. If you don't take a step back, this wonât be just a matter between children. House Huangâs reputation is very important to me. Do you understand?" Reverend Daolie coldly looked at Lan Yun.
"Have you found him? Do you need my help?" Lan Yun softly asked.
"Do you finally regret accepting that disciple?" Reverend Daolie sneered.
"No, I'm laughing at you. Canât you tell?" Folding her arms, Lan Yun rolled her eyes and continued, "I knew he was a strong man."
"Lan Yun!" Reverend Daolie's eyes burned like torches, "This farce ends here. Thereâs no need for things to get ugly. I'm not afraid of trouble, nor am I afraid of you. I just donât think itâs worth the effort.... But if you continue making a fuss, House Huang wonât mind playing along!â
"What a joke." Lan Yun's smile turned frosty as she stared at Reverend Daolie. "An ancient house like yours gathers a large number of people and a reverend like you takes matters into your own hands, all to catch a hundred-year-old child. Now everyone in Myriadpath Valley knows. If I just allow you to do whatever you want, what about my face?"
"Lan Yun! So you really want to play? Do you really think you have a solid foundation in Myriadpath Valley?" Reverend Daolie couldnât understand why she would go through all this trouble for a black ring disciple. And the more he couldn't figure it out, the more it upset him.
Lan Yun, on the other hand, still had the same attitude and refused to give in. "Let's play then. Weâll see whoâs afraid of whom? As an elder, youâve mobilized a large force just to kill my disciple. I can forget about mingling in Myriadpath Valley if I hide like a coward! But if thatâs what you want to do, then go ahead, kill my disciple and Iâll kill your children. How many children do you have? Not just yours.... Isnât House Huang thriving with descendants? How about I trim your branches?"
"I see now! This disciple of yours is merely an excuse. Youâre determined to mess with me! Fine! Youâd better watch your back!" The furious Reverend Daolie was surrounded by members of House Huang.
"You're wrong. I'm not targeting you, and I donât want to fight you, either. I just think itâs ridiculous and embarrassing for an elder to deal with a junior!" Lan Yun retorted.
"Haha!" Reverend Daolie declined to comment further.
Lan Yun's eyes narrowed as she caught someone using their transmission stone.
"Youâre calling Qingyuan and Shujian for backup? So youâre planning to besiege me! Fine! I can do the same. Huang Daolie, have you forgotten that I have a group of senior sisters? Arenât you afraid House Huang will be wiped out?"
Upon hearing Lan Yunâs words, Huang Daolie finally calmed down. He waved his hand, calling off the order.
"Are your senior sisters out of solitary cultivation?"
"Of course," Lan Yun sneered.
Huang Daolie grit his teeth. "Tell me, how should we settle this then?" he growled.
Crossing her arms, she said, "It's simple. Let the juniors handle things on their own. My disciple is only a hundred years old, so you have the advantage. I donât care if a fortuna disciple kills him, but itâll be a slap in my face if a maniverse disciple or an elder like you makes a move!"
"Fortuna disciple?" Exhaling deeply, Huang Daolie finally cracked a smile. "Sure!"
